El Dorado

John Wayne and Robert Mitchum saddle up for director Howard Hawks in this winningly sly western. Wayne plays the tough gunfighter who teams up with Mitchum's drunken sheriff to see off a cattle baron (Ed Asner) who plans to monopolise a region's water supply. James Caan co-stars as an eager young buck whose aim doesn't quite match his enthusiasm. The final part of a loose Hawks-Wayne trilogy that began with Rio Bravo and Rio Lobo.
