Massacre of the Mormons
On November 4, 2019, gunmen opened fire on three vehicles en route to Chihuahua, Mexico, killing three women and six children from a nearby Mormon community in La Mora. While evidence pointed to increasing violence from local cartels, the “Masacre de los Mormones” became a fraught political issue on both sides of the border – leading all the way to the White House and the Mexican Presidential Palace. Interweaving shocking audio messages, video footage, and interviews with family members and authorities, Massacre of the Mormons (Masacre de los Mormones) examines the lingering question at the center of the firestorm: who carried out the massacre and why?
