Ms. X is a darkly comic, action-packed six-part dramedy about a good person going bad, through the eyes of a suburban stay-at-home mom, Mia Bennett, who suspects her husband is cheating. She turns to an old high school friend, Oscar, now an inexperienced private investigator, for help. But when a botched scare attempt turns deadly, Mia is pulled into a chaotic world of organized crime, identity theft, and PTA politics. Set in contemporary Auckland, the series explores the razor-thin line between domestic life and danger as Mia and her unlikely partner-in-crime become entangled in the criminal underworld. Armed with nothing but maternal instincts, basic paramedic training, and a deep desire to disrupt her predictable life, Mia evolves from housewife to unexpected criminal mastermind. With every step, she moves further from her old life and closer to the truth about her husband’s secrets, while the skills obtained in the underworld begin to bleed into her home life. Over six propulsive episodes, Mia and Oscar forge passports, evade vengeful gang members, help import hundreds of kilos of cocaine, and come close to blowing their cover, all while juggling school drop-offs, teen angst, and a city with nowhere to hide.
