The Himalayas
In the 22 years since he first scaled the Himalayas in 1985, Korea’s leading alpinist Hong-gil Um completed 38 excursions in the mountain range. From 2000-2003 he climbed the peaks Kangchenjunga, K2, Shishapangma and Everest together with his younger comrade Moo-taek Park, becoming like a brother to him in the process. But in 2004, while descending from the peak of Everest, Moo-taek Park lost his life in an accident. In order to recover the body, Hong-gil Um led a historically unprecedented expedition 8,750m above sea level, to the Death Zone of Mt. Everest. A touching drama based on the true story of famed mountaineer Hong-gil Um.
