The Pretendians
Across Canada, public figures have been exposed as 'Pretendians'-people falsely claiming Indigenous identity. The Pretendians investigates why this happens, uncovering fake art markets, dubious status claims for cheap fuel, and the roots of blood-quantum beliefs. The film follows those questioning their own identity and a professor fighting accusations.
